The Government has published a guideline that bars fully subletting social housing projects such as flats, rowhouses, and land plots.
As per the guideline, owners can only sublet the properties awarded under the social housing projects after seeking approval from the ministry in charge of the said project and for a maximum of five years. Moreover, previously granted permits to fully sublet a social housing property will now be void.
However, the owner can still register and transfer the ownership to the individual the property is being sublet to without any further restrictions.
The new guideline was published under the Residential Tenancy Act and incorporated last night after several owners have been listing the social housing properties in phase two for sublease.
