The finance ministry has issued a tender for the construction of a children’s home in Faafu Nilandhoo.
The gender ministry is implementing the Nilandhoo children’s home project with the objective of establishing a healthy family environment for children in state care and guaranteeing the children’s social engagement as they develop.
The finance ministry said that the project has been put out to tender for MVR 4.2 million, with interested companies needed to register by October 12. The project is expected to be completed within the next year, according to the government.
The gender ministry has also been involved in a number of initiatives around the atolls to create homes for children in state care, including the establishment of a similar facility in Addu City.
In addition, it moved 18 children to the state care facility created in Baa Eydhafushi, and 16 children to each of the state care facilities constructed in Shaviyani Funadhoo and Fuvahmulah City.
