Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated it is closely monitoring the situation of Maldivians in Istanbul, Türkiye, to ensure their safety following the explosion in Taksim Square.

At least six were killed and over 80 more were injured in the explosion. The government of Türkiye has stated that it was a terrorist attack and the suspect has been arrested.
