President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has prolonged the suspension of government offices until June 22 as a precautionary move in response to the present COVID-19 situation.
According to the directive, all government offices in the Greater Malé Region (Malé, Hulhumalé, Villingili, Thilafushi, and Gulhifalhu) are to remain closed, with employees directed to work from home as needed.
A bare minimum of staff will be permitted to remain in their individual offices in order to continue providing all necessary services without interruption. Exclusions must be approved by a Minister or the head of a department or institution.
In the directive, President Solih emphasized the necessity of following the Health Protection Agency’s (HPA) guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19.
