The Gedhoruveringe Committee has announced that eligible applicants who were unable to receive land plots in the first round of the Binveriyaa housing scheme will now have the opportunity to apply jointly. This decision comes as part of the government’s commitment to providing land plots to all eligible individuals who applied for the scheme. The move aims to ensure that as many eligible applicants as possible are able to secure land plots under the Binveriyaa housing scheme.
According to the Gedhoruveringe Committee, a total of 23,088 individuals submitted 15,164 applications for the Binveriyaa scheme. Out of these, 19,858 individuals have been identified as eligible applicants. The preliminary list reveals that 10,314 recipients will be allocated a total of 5,000 land plots in the first round of the scheme.
However, it has been observed that there are still 9,544 eligible applicants who have not been assigned any land plots. In order to increase their chances of receiving a plot, these individuals are now encouraged to submit joint applications. Those who qualify for joint applications can access the relevant section on the dedicated portal and find detailed instructions on how to proceed.
The government has committed to providing 5,000 land plots to recipients in the first round of the Binveriyaa scheme. Of these, over 1,500 plots will be allocated from Hulhumale’, while the remainder will come from Giraavaru and Gulhifalhu. The final list of land plot recipients will be published after the government reviews and addresses any complaints regarding the recently released preliminary list. Applicants have until July 15 to submit their complaints.
This opportunity for joint applications is seen as a positive step in addressing the needs of eligible applicants who were initially left without land plots. By allowing individuals to pool their resources and submit joint requests, the government aims to ensure a fair distribution of land plots under the Binveriyaa housing scheme.
The Binveriyaa scheme, introduced by the government, aims to provide affordable housing options for Maldivian citizens. It is part of a broader effort to address the housing needs of the population and improve living standards across the country. The scheme has garnered significant interest and participation, as evidenced by the large number of applications received.
As the deadline for submitting complaints approaches, eligible applicants are encouraged to carefully review the preliminary list and promptly submit any valid concerns they may have. The government remains committed to addressing these issues and ensuring that the Binveriyaa housing scheme benefits as many eligible individuals as possible.
