Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has said the government is working on bringing the necessary amendments to the Tourism Act to reduce the fees charged to begin homestay tourism.
Tourism Minister Mausoom said the license for homestay tourism is first issued to an island and councils play a crucial role in providing information to tourists and establishing the necessary services to tourists on the island.
However, he also noted that there are concerns regarding the fees charged to begin homestay tourism and the government is working on bringing the necessary amendments to the laws to reduce this fee and ease the whole procedure to commence homestay tourism.
