Addressing the audience, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali highlighted the significant increase in the number of high-achieving students. She noted that in the past, only 50 students were included in the top 10 rankings. However, with the implementation of a modern education system, the number of achievers has grown considerably. Dr. Ali attributed this progress to the increased dedication of teachers and their efforts to elicit excellent results from students, further emphasizing that recent changes in salary structures have enhanced their motivation. The availability of resources and various educational programs in schools has also played a vital role in cultivating a greater interest in learning among students.
Among the 6,360 candidates who took the secondary examinations last year, an impressive 844 students secured a position within the prestigious national top 10 rankings. This notable achievement included 11 students who ranked in the top 10 globally, while six individuals were honored with the High Achievement Award. Notably, this year marked a historic occasion as students from Al Madhrasathul Arabiyyathul Islamiyya had the opportunity to compete for this distinguished award for the first time ever.
