The government has resubmitted the names of three cabinet members for parliamentary approval, a move initiated after their initial rejection by the parliament.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reappointed Ahmed Usham as Attorney General, Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed as Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development, and Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed as Minister of Islamic Affairs.
The trio faced rejection on January 29 during a parliamentary vote on President Dr. Muizzu’s cabinet, with only 19 out of the 22 members gaining approval. Despite the setback, the President reinstated the three ministers the same evening, leading to their oath-taking ceremony officiated by Supreme Court Judge Husnu Suood.
The previous vote details highlight the contested nature of the appointments, emphasizing the ongoing parliamentary scrutiny surrounding these key positions.
