The Government of the Maldives has stated that the wages for university lecturers will be increased along with the salary increments for teachers in response to uncertainty on whether the wages for lecturers would be increased as part of the government’s work to improve the salary structure for the education sector
The government also stated necessary work is being done to include improvements to the wages for university lecturers in the state pay framework to ensure that they will receive higher wages as part of the salary structure changes. The changes to the state pay framework also include improving wages for teachers at the National Centre for the Holy Quran.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih recently announced the overhaul of wages in the education sector with teachers and principals almost doubling their current salaries.
