Government has decided to shuffle its cabinet once again to improve the public services and fulfill the presidential pledges.
President’s Spokesperson, Mabrook Azeez has today announced major changes to the current cabinet and its structure.
Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan will now take over the vacant Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture, replacing Zaha Waheed.
Former Policy Secretary of the President’ Office, Shauna Aminath has been appointed as the new Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology. Meanwhile, Ahmed Hamdhan will replace Shauna as the new Policy Secretary at the President’s Office.
As for changes in government structure, the National Drug Agency (NDA) has been moved under the Health Ministry and the Ministry of Communication, Science, and Technology has been dissolved.
The new appointees were sworn in this morning in a special ceremony held at the President’s Office.
Government yesterday announced the dismissal of two deputies, Nishama Mohamed and Shiyama Mohamed at the Health Ministry implicated in the ventilator scandal.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih previously stated that changes will be made to improve the service and fulfill presidential pledges. Moreover, he will not hesitate to remove any incompetent ministers.
