The President’s Office has revealed that the government has begun implementing recommendations from the May 6 inquiry report issued by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security Services (241 Committee).
According to a statement released by the President’s Office on Thursday night, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with members of the National Security Council (NSC) to discuss ways to execute the 241 Committee recommendations. It added that the discussions were based on recommendations that could be adopted in the short, medium, and long term.
The President’s Office further announced that 38 of the 241 Committee inquiry report’s recommendations had already begun to be executed.
The meeting with NSC members was conducted to discuss the remaining recommendations on the inquiry report, according to the President’s Office.
The 241 Committee’s inquiry report, issued in the aftermath of the attempted assassination of People’s Majlis Speaker Mohamed Nasheed on May 6, featured 46 recommendations.
