The President’s Office has officially declared its intention to address the issue of false accusations directed towards President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih concerning the assassination attempt on Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.
In a press conference, the spokesperson for the President’s Office, Miuvaan Mohamed, emphasized that certain individuals are attributing blame to President Solih with the aim of regaining lost political support. Consequently, the President’s Office has resolved to take appropriate measures against those individuals who are found to be making baseless accusations against President Solih in connection with the attack.
Since the terrorist attack perpetrated against Speaker Nasheed on May 6, 2021, significant efforts have been made to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. Various investigations have been conducted involving multiple parties, but thus far, no report or investigation has revealed any indication of negligence or government involvement.
