President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced an extension of the grace period for Hiyaa Flat tenants to an additional 3 months.
The president made the announcement during the special ceremony held to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the Tsunami tragedy and National Unity Day. The announcement was made after several tenants expressed their discontent regarding the pending finishing works and the short grace period term.
The president also said he hopes the finishing works of Hiyaa Flat will be done and all tenants can move in by next March. He further said that the government will always listen to the concerns of the public and will do whatever it takes to serve the public better. He promised to solve all the issues currently in Hulhumale Phase Two and make living more convenient for its residents.
The announcement came after several tenants vowed to protest if the grace period was not extended and threatened not to pay rent if there was no extension.
