Mohamed Hamdhoon resigned as president of the Maldives Journalists Association (MJA) on Saturday, only a year into his tenure.
Hamdhoon, an award-winning journalist, was elected President of the MJA in September 2020.
In his letter of resignation, Hamdhoon said that he was unable to dedicate enough time to his obligations as MJA’s president due to personal and work-related commitments.
He also praised MJA’s executive committee and general members for their help throughout his term.
Hamdhoon has previously worked for several news outlets, including Haveeru and Mihaaru, and he is presently a managing editor for the online news website Adhadhu.
