Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced an architectural design competition worth MVR 1 million.
HDC noted that they are seeking talented and capable architects and designers via the competition which is open to both local and foreign talent.
“The architectural design competition for the Tourism Island Commercial Spine, intends to challenge its participants to achieve an innovative, sustainable and creative design. The Commercial Spine will become a prominent area where the public can shop, dine and have a leisurely time, where people interactions and community are celebrated,” HDC stated in the design brief.
The competition worth MVR 1 million will award MVR 200,000 to the first place winner during the conceptualization phase with MVR 30,000 and MVR 20,000 being awarded to the second and third place winners respectively.
In addition to this, the first place winner will be provided the opportunity to complete detailed drawings of the designs, and will be awarded MVR 750,000 upon completion.
HDC revealed that only one entry can be made under one architect. Registration will be done through the competition website of HDC design@hdc.com.mv with the deadline being 12th September 2022.
