On Saturday, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) signed agreements with six parties to establish cafes and restaurants as part of the Urban Boulevard project, which aims to develop the area where both phases of Hulhumale meet. The companies, including Brothers Catering, RefCool, Celsius Pvt. Ltd., Misraabu Private Limited, Dine-more Restaurant, and Dreams Pvt. Ltd., signed the agreements at a function held on Saturday.
Brothers Catering will set up a café/restaurant, and Refcool, Celsius Private Limited, and Misraabu Private Limited will set up three cafes each. Dine-more Restaurant, a popular franchise brand in Sri Lanka, has also decided to set up a restaurant in the Urban Boulevard, and Dreams Private Limited plans to set up Kenny Rogers Roasters, the first global franchise outlet in the area.
All agreements were signed on behalf of HDC by Chief Financial Officer Ahmed Sham. According to HDC’s press release, these outlets will offer fusion-style cuisine, and the cafes will be designed in an eco-friendly manner. When the Urban Boulevard is completed, it will become a “full symbol” of Hulhumale’s development and a vibrant society.
The Boulevard in Hulhumale will offer multiple services in one place, making it a popular destination for residents of both phases of Hulhumale and visitors to spend time with family and friends. In addition to cafes/restaurants, the area will feature facilities such as children’s parks and outdoor gyms. The area to be developed in the Urban Boulevard was previously used in Hulhumale Phase I as a barbecue area.
