Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment to develop skilled youth under the National Apprenticeship Program.
The MoU was signed by Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof and HDC’s Managing Director Suhail Ahmed on Tuesday morning at HDC.
Apprentices who complete the program will receive a National Level III Certificate accredited by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.
Apprentices will be trained in 10 fields under the six-month program.

- Plumbing
- Electrician
- Carpenter
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
- Construction Site Supervisor
- Assistant Building Maintenance Officer
- Mason
- Gardener
- Heavy Vehicle Operator
It will be HDC’s fifth apprenticeship program. HDC states it will offer the opportunity to train 100 apprentices this year, as well as 30 of HDC’s own employees interested in training in the selected fields.
HDC stated that the company remains committed to developing capable youth, and opening opportunities for youth who have yet to decide on a career path, help them attain national level certificates, and develop the skills they need to begin their careers.
