Health Ministry has been accused by the Union of Employment Agencies of the Maldives of destroying local employment agencies through an Indian agency.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the union highlighted the Health Ministry’s 2015 announcement of recruitment policies, in which foreign doctors and health professionals required for the Health Ministry were to be recruited through agencies registered and operating in Maldives.
The union stated that the Health Ministry changed its recruitment policies in an announcement made on March 3rd and handed over the task to the ministry’s Foreign Recruitment Section.
However, the union said the Health Ministry handed over the announcement of 520 vacant jobs to an Indian employment agency, Norka Roots, on April 17th.
Union of Employment Agencies then went on to accuse the Health Ministry of unlawful practices to deliberately destroy local employment agencies by recruiting foreign professionals directly through Indian agencies.
