The health ministry has launched an extensive inquiry to determine the cause of a 6-year-old girl’s untimely death while getting treatment at Fuvahmulah Hospital.
The 6-year-old died at the hospital on Sunday while receiving treatment for stomach discomfort and vomiting. The deceased’s family has accused the hospital of being negligent in the girl’s tragic death.
Fuvahmulah Hospital has not disclosed the cause of her untimely death, but her family has accused the hospital of administering her the wrong medication.
Mohamed Lirar, the hospital’s manager, informed a local news source that the hospital’s inquiry into the unfortunate occurrence will result in appropriate action being taken against anybody deemed culpable.
In response to the family’s allegations, Fuvahmulah City Mayor Ismail Rafeeq stated that the city council is collaborating with the hospital to determine the cause of the unfortunate death. He also stated that an in-depth inquiry into the occurrence would be conducted in order to retain public trust in the healthcare system.
Thasleema Umar, Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Health, stated that the hospital has been instructed to send all medical documents of the 6-year-old, and that a report on the incident would be produced following the health ministry’s inquiry.
She also noted that the health ministry’s investigation has begun and that anybody found irresponsible as a result of its findings will face appropriate consequences.
