The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has announced that COVID-19 vaccination program will be temporarily halted over the Eid holiday.
The Maldives launched the COVID-19 vaccination program with a contribution of 200,000 doses from the Indian government. The vaccination program was then discontinued after the stock ran out, as many people were waiting for their second shot.
The immunisation program, however, resumed this month in the country with the donation of a new shipment of Covishield vaccine.
HEOC Spokesperson Dr. Nazla Musthafa indicated during a news conference on Wednesday that the immunisation program in the Greater Male’ area would be temporarily halted on July 17. She also stated that a date for the program’s resumption will be revealed later.
The vaccination program was halted as the Eid holiday is set to begin on July 19.
