Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised caution as the number of COVID-19 positive cases rise in the Maldives.
HPA on Monday stated that there were 142 positive cases reported last week – a 69% increase compared to the week prior. HPA added that the number of hospitalisations related to COVID-19 was on the rise as well. Maldives recorded only 15 COVID-19 related hospitalizations in May but there have been 11 COVID-19 related hospitalizations in June so far.
HPA advised safety precautions to ensure COVID-19 spread can be curbed and ensure the safety of the high-risk patients.
HPA advised the public to isolate and test if symptoms occur and to wear masks in public and when visiting hospitals and high-risk patients. HPA also advised the public to self-quarantine if tested positive, and to inform HPA of close contacts. HPA also urged the public to complete vaccination.
