The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has made arrangements for people to acquire the AstraZeneca vaccine by simply walking into a vaccination center without making an appointment.
Previously, people had to make an appointment to receive the AstraZeneca or Covishield vaccine.
But the HPA said on Sunday that the COVID-19 immunization centers will be open for walk-in vaccinations beginning Monday, while emphasizing that people with appointments would be given precedence.
Vaccination clinics are now open at the Social Center, the Islamic Center, the Art Gallery, and the Villimale Hospital.
The HPA had previously voiced worry about the small number of people receiving COVID-19 vaccinations.
The AstraZeneca vaccines now in use in the country will expire in November, according to the HPA.
The HPA hopes to administer the first dose to the eligible population by the end of August, as the second would necessitate an 8-week gap.
