The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has published new guideline for local and work permit holders travelling from South Asia.
The new guideline mandate to quarantine and to do a PCR test after arriving, while in quarantine. Moreover, work permit holders will be quarantined in designated facilities selected by HPA. The new guideline will come into effect from 7th July 2021.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih yesterday announced that the country is preparing to re-issue tourist visas to travelers from South Asia region from 15th July, after temporarily halting on May 13 due to a surge in daily COVID-19 cases and looming threat of new variants.
Over the past few months, the Maldives has experienced a fourth COVID-19 wave; the country has been slowly recovering from one of the deadliest waves, linked to the Delta variant, since the first case of community spread in 2020.
