The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has removed further restrictions in place to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the Greater Male’ area.
HPA has removed the vehicle ban which was in place from 6PM to 6AM.
The vehicle ban along with dine-in services ban from 8PM were a part of restrictive measures implemented to curb the spread of the virus in the Greater Male’ area. However, after several complaints from general public and business owners alike, these two bans have now been removed.
Former President and Parliament Speaker, Mohamed Nasheed criticized the measures implemented by HPA and advised to remove the state of health emergency which has been continuously extended for over a year. Moreover, a motion to seek assistance for taxi drivers was submitted to Parliament yesterday.
Maldives has confirmed nearly 23,000 cases of COVID-19 with 66 deaths reported so far.
