In the wake of the worst ever COVID-19 infection wave in the Maldives, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced tighter restrictions to curb the spread of the virus.
HPA said the new restrictions will come into effect starting tomorrow for a week.
The new restrictions are:
- Restaurants and cafes are only permitted to open for delivery and takeout.
- Deliveries are allowed with a police permit until midnight.
- Congregational prayers at mosques temporarily stopped.
- Businesses that do not follow the rules will be shut down for 24 hours.
According to the HPA data from yesterday, 1,204 positive cases were registered in less than 24 hours, with three deaths confirmed.
