The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced it will start administering Pfizer vaccine doses received under the COVAX initiative.
HPA stated that vaccine will be administered to mainly senior citizens in Greater Male’ area with underlying health issues such as individuals with organ transplant, dialysis treatment, cancer patients doing chemo or radiotherapy, and individuals currently on immunosuppressants.
Moreover, the vaccine will be administered to individuals above 16 years of age with the same health issues along with diabetes, thalassemia, Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, and natural heart defects.
Maldives received 5,500 doses of Pfizer vaccine as part of the COVAX initiative.
