The Health Protection Agency (HPA) will begin administering booster doses of Pfizer vaccinations to fully vaccinated individuals on Saturday.
Booster doses will be provided to anybody over the age of 18 who had the second dosage more than six months ago, according to the HPA.
The HPA also set up a system for booking appointments for the booster dosage on their website.
The Maldives received 100,620 doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the United States via the COVAX facility in order to begin administering booster doses in December, however it was delayed owing to a syringe shortage.
According to official data, the Maldives is experiencing an increase in daily COVID-19 cases, with 816 cases registered in the previous 24 hours alone.
