As the number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives continues to rise, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has called on the public to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of fever, flu, and COVID-19.
The latest statistics released by HPA revealed a significant increase in the spread of these illnesses in the country, with 148 individuals testing positive for COVID-19 between April 9-15. The HPA also stated that this is the first time the numbers have been so high after a decline in recent months, and the increase in hospitalizations will have an impact on the entire health system.
HPA has advised individuals to seek medical assistance for flu symptoms, wear masks, maintain social distancing, and practice hand hygiene. Public transport providers have also been urged to provide hand sanitizers and ensure that drivers wear masks.
