The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that they will not approve antigen rapid test results for travel.
A media official from HPA stated that though they have commenced antigen rapid testing in the Maldives, it will not be deemed acceptable for travel, and only PCR test results will be approved for travel.
Moreover, direct contacts and those under quarantine will have to do a PCR test to be released from quarantine or isolation.
“Rapid tests are for symptomatic patients. The test results might not be accurate for asymptomatic patients.”, according to HPA’s media official.
Maldives is currently confirming COVID-19 cases at an alarming rate with 2,707 cases reported yesterday alone.
