Hulhumale Hospital has announced that the Hulhumale Medical Facility (HMF) is currently unoccupied following the discharge of its last patient on Thursday.
HMF is the Maldives’ main COVID-19 treatment center for patients who require institutionalized care, with a capacity of 270 people.
Mariya Saeed, CEO of Hulhumale Hospital, indicated nurses will always be stationed at the facility in case of emergency. She also mentioned that while the facility was empty, they were working on addressing minor flaws on the facility.
Furthermore, COVID-19 patients in critical conditions are treated at Dharumavantha Hospital, only two in-patients were being cared for as of Friday.
During April and May of this year, the COVID-19 situation deteriorated due to a significant increase in cases in the Greater Male’ area. Following this, HMF experienced its busiest day, with 200 in-patients being treated at the same time.
Since then, the COVID-19 situation in the Greater Male’ has greatly improved, with the number of patients admitted continuing to fall.
