Under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarship scheme, India has given two Maldivian students full scholarships to pursue higher education.
The two students were chosen from among ten Maldivian students who applied for the ICCR scholarship scheme for the academic year 2021/22, with the screening process for the remaining eight applications still underway.
Sunjay Sudhir, the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, met with the scholarship recipients on Wednesday.
The Indian Cultural Center works in partnership with the Maldives Higher Education Ministry and the government to receive and process applications.
Maldivian students can apply for scholarships to study in prominent Indian universities at the undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil, and PhD levels under the yearly scholarship scheme. Before making a decision on a candidate’s application, Indian universities evaluate them for academic qualifications.
