The MVR 16 million school upgrading project in Inguraidhoo, Raa Atoll, has been awarded to a private business, Maalaa High Rising Construction Pvt Ltd.
The project will include the construction of four classrooms, a staffroom, and a multipurpose hall for the school, which has a capacity of 315 pupils.
The agreement was signed by Naushad Ibrahim, senior policy director at the Ministry of Education, and Ibrahim Ahmed, director of Maalaa High Rising Construction.
The Company was also hired to develop Arabiyya School in 2011 for MVR 29 million, however the contract was cancelled when the company claimed it would incur considerable losses due to the shift in the dollar exchange rate.
