The government of Japan has provided grant assistance for the development of the health centre in Bodufolhudhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll. A total of around USD 116,000 has been allocated under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Japanese government.
The agreement was signed between Japanese Ambassador to Maldives Keiko Yanai and the President of Bodufolhudhoo Association of Awareness, Recreation, and Unity (AARU) Adam Riyaz, this project will be directly carried out by AARU.
Speaking during the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Safiyya Mohamed Saeed said maternal and pediatric healthcare services of Bodufolhudhoo Health Centre will be developed under this grant assistance. She acknowledged continued Japanese assistance to develop healthcare services in the Maldives. Furthermore, she said she hope Japan will continue helping the development of health sector in the country.
