Johnny Depp, the renowned actor, recently disclosed that he enjoys a quiet life in the English countryside after winning a defamation trial against his former wife, Amber Heard. Depp claims that British people treat him like a neighbor and he relishes living his life away from the spotlight in Somerset.
In an interview with Somerset Life, a local magazine, Depp shared that he appreciates how British people are cool and greet him as if he is a neighbor without going overboard. While he does not mind people asking for an autograph or a brief chat, he values his private time with his family. Depp described himself as quite shy and praised Britain, particularly Somerset, for allowing him to just be himself.
According to reports, Depp purchased a grand manor house in Somerset for £13 million in 2014, which is approximately a three and a half-hour drive from London. The property is surrounded by walled gardens and is situated on 850 acres of land. The mansion features 12 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
Recently, Depp was spotted antique shopping in Lincolnshire, where he purchased various decorative items, including a desk chair, guitars, paint sets, easels, pictures, and posters, according to Robert Miller, the owner of Hemswell Antiques Centres.
Depp has kept a low profile since his lawsuit against Amber Heard. The jury ultimately ruled in his favor, and he was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. However, the punitive damages were later reduced to the state’s statutory maximum of $350,000.
