The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has begun steps to conduct performance evaluations of select superior court judges.
According to the JSC, 29 judges from the Criminal Court, Civil Court, Drug Court, Family Court, and Juvenile Court will be evaluated in the pilot project of performance review.
The performance of 10 judges from Civil Court, 6 judges from Family Court, 4 judges from Criminal Court, 6 judges from Drug Court, and 3 judges from Juvenile Court will be evaluated by the JSC.
As part of the performance review, the JSC has made available various forms that must be completed by court personnel, attorneys, and those requesting court services. The commission stated that the identities of people filling out the applications would be kept private.
The JSC is responsible for evaluating the performance of judges every two years. However, this is the first time a performance review has been carried out.
