The President’s Office has announced the decision to declare July 28 a government holiday extending the Independence Day celebrations from July 26-28.
The decision was made following the new list of government holidays that was declared for the year 2022. As a result of the change, the Independence Day celebration will be extended from July 26-30 July. However, the administration decided not to proclaim government holidays on July 24 and 25.
In December 2021, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih declared additional days as public holidays for the year 2022. As such, four days were added as public holidays, which are May 5, July 13, July 14, and July 28. These days were declared as public holidays commemorating Eid holidays and Independence Day.
