The Jumhoory Party (JP) and the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) leader Mohamed Nasheed’s ‘Fikuregge Dhirun’ faction have initiated the process of drafting a joint manifesto for the upcoming presidential election.
In a meeting held at the JP headquarters on Wednesday, both parties discussed collaborating in the election and agreed to draft a joint manifesto. The JP was represented by deputy leader Ameen Ibrahim, Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain, and former Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed, while Nasheed’s faction was represented by Hassan Latheef and State Trading Organization (STO)’s Managing Director Hussain Amr.
The parties plan to hold more meetings in the future to further discuss their collaboration. Despite President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s invitation for a coalition, JP will make a decision after considering the current term thoroughly, according to Ameen.
