The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced that all bookings for Kudagiri Picnic Island were filled within five hours, demonstrating the popularity of the island. On February 9th, HDC made 300 visitor spots available for the official opening day, which will be presided over by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and other senior government officials.
The island features various services, including cafes, huts, bathrooms, beaches, and other amenities, which can accommodate up to 500-600 visitors at a time. The government has decided not to charge fees for travel to Kudagiri Picnic Island on weekends and public holidays in order to encourage as many people as possible to visit.
Local residents traveling to the island are required to pay a ferry fee of MVR 25 and an entrance fee of MVR 50 per person. Children under 12 years old will pay half these prices. Visitors arriving via personal transportation vessels will be charged be extra.
