The family of a 37-year-old male victim critically injured in the cylinder explosion at Kulhudhuffushi Airport is making arrangements to transfer him abroad for additional medical treatment.
Speaking on behalf of Mohamed Ahmed’s family, Abdulla Mohamed provided an update on his condition. After undergoing surgery at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Ahmed is presently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at ADK Hospital in the capital, Male’.
Upon his arrival at ADK Hospital, Ahmed had dangerously low blood pressure, but it is gradually improving. Abdulla Mohamed also mentioned that Ahmed is scheduled for another hand surgery, which is to take place 48 hours after the initial surgery conducted on Thursday.
He emphasized that after the upcoming surgery, they intend to transport Ahmed abroad for further medical care. Initially planning to travel to India, their decision is now based on medical advice. The family is determined to ensure Ahmed receives the best possible care and medical attention.
The cylinder explosion, which occurred on Thursday around 11:45 am, took place while airport staff were refilling a cylinder used for fire safety exercises.
