President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that Laamu atoll will be a central hub for several development projects.
Speaking at the ‘Rahvehi Fathis’ program, President Solih stated that several development projects will commence in Laamu Atoll.
Some of the projects will include the development and construction of an airport, a commercial sea port and several projects related to Health, Education and Tourism.
President Solih also stated that 3 uninhabited islands from Laamu Atoll will be put on for tender this year to develop resorts.
Moreover, 7 islands and 131 farmers have agreed to participate in the ‘Agro National Corporation’ which aims to develop Agricultural industry in the Maldives.
President Solih further outlined the plans to build an ice plant at Maamendhoo and Maabaidhoo, and development of a ‘Youth Development and Training Center’. Moreover, the road construction of Isdhoo will commence soon along with the design of a causeway between Kunhandhoo and Hithadhoo.
The expansion of Gan Hospital will change it to a full tertiary hospital and will be a place capable of treating cancer patients according to the President.
