Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed land reclamation activities on three proposed resort islands for Centara Hotels and Resorts of Thailand.
The land reclamation project in Male’ Atoll was awarded to MTCC in October 2019. The project included the reclamation of 21 hectares of land, with 7 hectares allotted to each island, as well as shore protection measures.
According to MTCC, this is the largest contract awarded to them by a foreign firm in their 40-year history, with a total value of USD 29.96 million.
The project’s completion ceremony was conducted on one of the reclaimed islands, and Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam, as well as key officials from MTCC and Centara, were in attendance.
Centara Hotels and Resorts presently operates four Maldives resorts.
