Maldives Police Service has arrested a local man suspected of trafficking drugs in Male’ City at a large scale.
The 20-year-old man was arrested during a special operation carried out last night on a tip received to Police’s drug intelligence. However, they did not disclose any further details regarding the suspect.
Police said that the man was searched at Thuhravaas Goalhi in Henveiru during a special operation carried out collaboratively by the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) and Intelligence. A large quantity of drugs, enough to qualify one as a suspect of drug trafficking, were discovered on the man, and subsequently, seized during a 2-hour long operation.
Police has carried out several counter-narcotic operations recently and seized large number of illegal narcotics.
