President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the construction and development of the 30-bed modern hospital planned for Lh. Hinnavaru island would be contracted to a party next month.
Speaking at the meeting held with Hinnavaru’s residents last night, President Solih said the project is in the tender stages and it would end on February 28. He said the project, for which the budget has already been allocated, will be contracted in March.
Moreover, President Solih spoke about expanding the existing harbor and building a new one. Other projects planned for the island include road development, building a Maldives National University (MNU) campus, and 100 housing units, in addition to improving the electricity network.
He also highlighted that the funds had been allocated in the budget to develop a new building for the Island Council, President Solih assured that arrangements would be made to improve banking services as well.
