The higher education ministry has stated that it will provide loans to Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) students who enroll in the newly founded Maldivian Aviation Academy.
The Maldivian Aviation Academy, managed by a prominent Czech aviation school, was launched earlier this week as part of a cooperative effort to train local pilots between the national airline, Maldivian, and the Maldives National University (MNU).
The Aviation Academy will accept 80 students per year. For the initial round, 30 slots have been provided, with priority given to individuals who studied at AAA. The academy’s initial course is a two-month refresher programme.
Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan stated during a news conference on Thursday that the price for the refresher programme is MVR 23,175, or USD 1,500. He stated that the government will provide loans to AAA students whose training has been hindered.
He further stated that once the refresher course is done, the government will offer additional financing for AAA students as needed.
