The Maldives Police Service reported on Thursday that the ongoing investigation into the sudden and mysterious suicide of a foreign nurse working at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) had resulted in the arrest of a local woman.
A 24-year-old Maldivian woman was arrested today by a court order, according to police, but no other details were provided.
On October 9, Mary Grace, a female Filipino hemodialysis nurse at IGMH, was found dead. The investigation into her apparent suicide resulted in the arrest of her husband, Marvin, a 29-year-old Filipino ER nurse at IGMH.
According to media sources, the arrested local woman, Lamha Abdul Rahman, 24, allegedly had a close relationship with Marvin. She also works as a nurse at IGMH.
Following a post-mortem examination of the victim in India, authorities stated that evidence pointed to blunt trauma as the cause of death, rather than suicide as previously claimed.
