Mabrook Azeez, the President’s Office spokesperson, has pleaded for everyone’s cooperation during the mass vaccination scheduled for next month to restore near-normalcy.
According to data from the Health Protection Agency, the first dosage of COVID-19 vaccination was given to 321,594 people up until July 28th, while the second dose was given to 263,067 people.
On Friday, Mabrook tweeted that the Maldives is one of the few countries that has been able to procure enough vaccines to immunise the whole eligible population.
He went on to say that returning to normalcy will necessitate everyone being vaccinated and convincing others to do the same by spreading the word.
On July 26, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced that his administration will launch a mass vaccination campaign next month, with the objective of vaccinating 90% of the eligible population by the end of August.
He also indicated that the administration has secured sufficient vaccine doses to immunize people who have yet to receive the second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. He also urged everyone to take advantage of this chance by getting vaccinated.
