In a bid to streamline operations and enhance passenger experience, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has established a new taxi drop-off point at Velana International Airport (VIA). The recently introduced drop-off location is positioned at the northern corner of the domestic terminal, with MACL providing a detailed diagram illustrating the updated traffic flow.
Expressing confidence in the positive impact of the new route, MACL urged taxi drivers to adhere to road signage and follow instructions from its staff and police officers along the revised path. Importantly, the company emphasized that this adjustment does not affect existing passenger pick-up or drop-off points, nor does it impact accessible areas for other vehicles in Hulhule’.
Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed shared insights on the decision, stating that it resulted from discussions with airport management to prioritize passenger convenience. Mohamed highlighted that the change aims to alleviate the burden on airport operations and create a smoother experience for travelers using the domestic terminal.
Moreover, Mohamed revealed that airport services are set to see substantial improvements with the development of roads, including the establishment of a new drop-off point at the domestic terminal arrival area. As part of their ongoing efforts, MACL is committed to enhancing monitoring operations to alleviate queues for taxis and private cars, addressing various challenges faced by passengers.
The new management at MACL demonstrates a proactive approach to refining airport services and infrastructure, marking a positive step toward optimizing the overall passenger experience at Velana International Airport.
