During the visit of Deng Boqing, Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), the Maldives and China signed significant agreements on areas of infrastructure development and health.
Among the signed agreements include the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CIDCA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives on the Development Cooperation Plan 2023-2025, which emphasizes cooperation in healthcare, climate change, infrastructure, agriculture, people-to-people exchanges, and disaster prevention and reduction. Other agreements signed included the Feasibility Study on Hospitals in Maldives, Renovation of the Maldives National Museum, and Maintenance of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid expressed gratitude for China’s contributions towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives and highlighted the significance of constructing critical infrastructure such as hospitals for the betterment of residents’ daily lives.
