During his visit to Malaysia, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer signed a double tax avoidance agreement with Deputy Minister of Finance Ahmed Maslan, further strengthening the economic ties between the Maldives and Malaysia.
This agreement aims to ensure greater certainty for taxpayers and prevent double taxation of income from residents of both countries. Additionally, it seeks to facilitate cross-border investments, thus promoting enhanced economic relations between the two nations.
It is worth noting that the Maldives has previously signed similar agreements with Bangladesh and India, and is actively pursuing similar arrangements with other countries.
