The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid, is currently on an official visit to Serbia where key agreements have been signed between the two countries. Among the agreements are the Agreement on Trade, Investment, and Economic Cooperation, an Air Services Agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the field of Diplomatic Education, and an MoU in the Field of Sports.
The agreements signed are expected to increase cooperation in areas such as sports, trade, and people-to-people connections, and signify the growing bilateral relations between the Maldives and Serbia. A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlights the significance of these agreements in strengthening the existing areas of cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
During the visit, Minister Shahid met with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, and both officials discussed ways to further enhance cooperation between the two countries in areas such as trade, tourism, sports, and the environment. They also expressed interest in continuing to work closely together on issues of mutual interest, both bilaterally and in international forums.
